Breeding Philosophy
Breeding Philosophy
Herd bulls are selected for balanced
traits with priority given to calving ease, growth, phenotype,
thickness, and maternal traits. We believe that the
maternal side of a herd bull's pedigree is as important as the
paternal side, thus, you will find some great mother cows in the
pedigrees of our herd bulls. You will not find suspicious
bloodlines in the pedigrees of the herd bulls used at Shady
Grove Farm.
It is our intent to avoid extremes
of any kind and passing fads that create long-lasting problems.
We are quite fond of line breeding to superior mother cows with
proven performance.
